Political Spin, like the Cylinder on a Revolver

Leslie Combs is a member of Kentucky’s House of Representatives. Last week, while she was in her office at the state capital, she was unloading a handgun and the gun accidentally went off. Another legislator was in the office but was not hit by the bullet.

When addressing the local media about the incident, Combs asserted that because she had received training in gun safety, the other legislator was never in any danger. She insisted, in fact, that she is scrupulously careful when handling all firearms.

  1. If I remember correctly, her response to this was something like, “That’s just what happens with guns sometimes.”

Yeah, it is. That’s the whole friggin’ point.
