You can watch a recording of our Facebook Live on Organizing in the Age of Trump.

Tomorrow, Friday, March 16, at 1 p.m. Eastern time, the AAUP is hosting a Facebook Live event on academic freedom and organizing in the age of Trump. In a divisive political climate that has led to increased targeted harassment of faculty, being organized and informed has never been more important. Monica Owens, senior program officer and AAUP political organizer, and Hans-Joerg Tiede, a senior program officer in the AAUP’s Department of Academic Freedom, Tenure, and Governance, will discuss the threats presented by right-wing organizations like Turning Point USA, and will offer a brief overview of current challenges to academic freedom as well as practical advice about organizing faculty in the current environment.

RSVP for the Facebook Live here, where you can submit questions for the presenters in advance, and share the link with friends and colleagues who may be interested. Tomorrow at 1 p.m., head over to our Facebook page and scroll to the top of the newsfeed to watch. If you’re logged into Facebook you’ll be able to react, comment, and ask questions during the event. We’ll post and share the link after it ends if you’re not able to watch live.

We have developed a toolkit about Turning Point USA and how to organize faculty on your campus to counteract the group’s efforts. You can find our fact sheets—”What is Turning Point USA?,” “If Turning Point Comes to Your Campus,” and “A Guide to Organizing Conversations about Turning Point”— on our One Faculty, One Resistance website.
