The Kochs’ Long Game

POSTED BY HANK REICHMAN

At the AAUP’s annual conference in June Nancy MacLean, William H. Chafe Professor of History and Public Policy at Duke University and author of Democracy in Chains: The Deep History of the Radical Right’s Stealth Plan for America, was the plenary luncheon speaker.  Chapter 7 of her book was published separately as “A World Gone Mad: James Buchanan and the Origins of the Radical Right’s Attack on Higher Education” in the May-June issue of Academe. The five-minute video below is a recent interview of Prof. MacLean by Bill Maher about the threat to democracy that is getting lost in the daily distractions of the Trump presidency.

  1. In the same video that Professor MacLean claimed there’s a Koch conspiracy to overthrow the Constitution, she also endorsed abolishing the electoral college because it produced two Republican winners who didn’t carry the popular vote.

It seems that MacLean is the one who actually wants to overthrow the Constitution.
